“You have sad eyes ,” my soul shook when I heard this statement. Sadness and I had been one for so long that I forgot it was there. I was at a loss for words when my truth was revealed. Although I was taken aback, I relished in the realization that someone finally saw ME. Someone cared enough to look AT ME, not just through me. Someone cared enough to reach for me. Someone threw me a lifesaver.
How many times do we look at someone, make eye contact, and walk away leaving things unsaid? We look at people wishing that through our eyes they would pickup the signals our souls send out but we don’t have the courage to vocalize. We walk around looking at people, holding glances, not pausing to appreciate what’s underneath.
Let’s take a moment today to pause and see if there’s more than meets the eye.
