For a long time I was caught up in the game of waiting for the right circumstances, the right person, or the right reasons, to be the best that I could be. I mirrored the behavior of others; if things were good then I was good, if people were kind I was kind, if people were rude I was rude. My journey of deepening my faith lead me to self-evaluation. Through the Word of God I identified the person I hope to become. Journaling became a critical tool for self-evaluation and I meditated on Mother Teresa of Calcutta’s “Do It Anyway” prayer to remind myself of my heavenly mission. I want to spread love at all seasons of my life, even when it’s hard. I want to make a conscious effort to fight the sinful urges that lie within me. I’ve made a commitment to love those that are difficult to love, push myself out of my comfort zone, and take my faith to the next level. Sharing my journey gives me accountability and calls me to reconciliation with those who I have offended –mainly God and myself. I want to fight against the pride that keeps me from acknowledging when I am wrong and takes away from life’s treasures. Walking with God is rewarding but not easy. In this blog I hope to capture my journey of becoming the best that I can be by relying on God as my guide. I will share my journey in hopes that along the way I find someone who says “me too.” I hope to find people that are honest regarding the daily struggle faced in trying to be the best mother, daughter, and friend one can be.
